Sveta Dorosheva is a Ukrainian-born illustrator and artist based in Israel, known for intricate hand-drawn narrative illustration rooted in fairy tales, folklore, mythology and cultural history. Her work spans books, museum exhibitions, film, licensed products, editorial and commercial commissions.
Fantasy: Realms of Imagination — Sveta created the monumental key artwork for the British Library’s flagship exhibition, which ran from October 2023 to February 2024. The A1 original was drawn entirely by hand with a traditional dip pen and unified the exhibition themes Fairy Tales & Folklore, Worlds & Portals, Epics & Quests, and the Weird & Uncanny. The artwork was used across the exhibition identity, accompanying book, outdoor advertising, environmental graphics, opening-night projection and merchandise.
Courage to Act: Rescue in Denmark — Sveta was the illustrator for the Museum of Jewish Heritage exhibition in New York, an educational exhibition about the rescue of Denmark’s Jewish population during the Holocaust.
Sveta’s British Library work received major international recognition in 2024. Verified recognition includes World Illustration Awards — Professional Advertising category winner; American Illustration 43 — Chosen Winner; V&A Illustration Awards — Advertising & Commercial shortlist; and Communication Arts recognition. The Land of Stone Flowers is Sveta Dorosheva’s authored and illustrated book about the human world as observed by fairy creatures. It was published internationally, including an English-language edition by Chronicle Books, and has developed a strong reader following for its intricate illustration, wit, fantasy and unusual perspective on human life.
LOVE is an adult mix-and-match artist book by Sveta Dorosheva combining erotic illustration, poetry and a physical split-page structure. Its visual context draws on Japanese shunga (春画, erotic “spring pictures”), the historical term warai-e (笑い絵, “laughing pictures”), enpon (艶本, erotic books), and the broader ukiyo-e (浮世絵) print tradition. The project pairs Sveta’s illustrations with poems by Andrei Sen-Senkov in Russian and English translation by Ainsley Morse.
